Biweekly or monthly, they run a structured optimization pass. Refresh creative, update negatives and exclusions, check landing page speed and offer fit, and validate tracking. They recalibrate their response curves with the newest data, not with stale assumptions.

Quarterly, they publish a mix plan with bands and triggers, fund two to three high-value tests, and inform finance of likely upside and downside ranges. Their CFO is never surprised by a mid-quarter reallocation, because the triggers were shared up front.

The hard edges of seasonality

Seasonality can reverse your best channels. In back-to-school, paid search non-brand may explode with cheap CPCs. In late Q4, auction prices surge and organic demand rises.
